Ali AlYusuf is a legal professional with extensive experience in corporate and commercial law across multiple jurisdictions. He earned his LLM from the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School in 2020, with a concentration in intellectual property and technology law, and also obtained the Wharton Business and Law Certificate from the Wharton School. Ali received his LLB with Honours from the University of Edinburgh Law School in 2016.
Ali’s international legal background spans both the Middle East and the United States. In New York, he served as a Visiting Attorney at Shearman & Sterling, where he worked on several high-profile M&A transactions, including Fenway Sports Group’s acquisition of the Pittsburgh Penguins NHL franchise, the $1.3 billion sale of International Flavors & Fragrances’ microbial control business to LANXESS, and the internal restructuring of Dow Chemical following its spin-off from DowDuPont. He also participated in a number of pro bono initiatives with organizations such as the New York Legal Assistance Group and the New York Legal Aid Society.
In the UAE, Ali held positions at leading international firms, including Jones Day and Allen & Overy. His work involved advising sovereign wealth funds, family offices, and multinational clients on strategic transactions and regional operations. He also managed the due diligence exercises for several high-value M&A transactions and assisted with a number of international arbitration proceedings.
Since January 2025, Ali has been based in Bahrain with Obeid & Medawar Law Firm LLP, where he is focused on supporting the firm’s regional growth by leveraging his international legal expertise.
