With over 29 years of experience as a lawyer and general counsel to some of the region’s most prominent institutions, Mirna ElAchkar is joining the team as the resident Partner of the Firm’s Bahrain branch.

Mirna’s practice focuses on corporate and commercial law, with a particular emphasis on the banking and finance sector. She has advised on a broad array of cross-border transactions, regulatory matters, and strategic projects across multiple jurisdictions in the GCC, MENA, and the UK.

Before joining the Firm, Mirna served as the Group General Counsel of Ahli United Bank B.S.C., based in Bahrain, where she led the legal function across seven  jurisdictions in the GCC, MENA and the UK for over a decade. During her tenure, she also held board and committee positions within the bank’s branches and subsidiaries, both locally and internationally. She played a key role in the Group’s legal strategy for regional expansion and innovation initiatives, including fintech ventures and digital transformation. One of her landmark achievements was leading the cross-border legal conversion of the bank from conventional to Islamic operations.

Mirna’s career in the GCC began in Kuwait in 2007, where she served for over ten years as legal counsel to leading institutions including regulatory bodies, governmental entities, investment banks, insurance firms, and major contractors.

Her diverse experience, extensive regional network, and robust regulatory expertise align closely with the Firm’s strategic vision for regional growth and service excellence.

Mirna is a member of the Beirut Bar Association since 1996. She was named Best Woman in the Corporate Sector by the American Chamber of Commerce (Manama Chapter) and is a member of the Legal Committee of the Bahrain Association of Banks.

She holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Banking and Finance from Queen Mary University of London.
